Tamil actor Abhinay, best known for his debut role in the 2002 coming-of-age film Thulluvadho Ilamai, passed away in Chennai on Monday, after a long battle with liver disease. He was just 44 years old.
According to reports by India Today, Abhinay had been suffering from severe liver-related health complications for several years. His condition deteriorated gradually, and in recent times, he publicly sought financial help to manage his rising medical expenses.
As his health declined, several members of the Tamil film industry came forward to help. Dhanush reportedly donated ₹5 lakh towards his medical expenses, while comedian KPY Bala contributed ₹1 lakh and appealed to the public for support.

Sources cited by NDTV revealed that Abhinay passed away around 4 a.m. on Monday, and his mortal remains will be kept for public homage before the last rites. His body has been kept at his residence in Kodambakkam, Chennai, for friends, colleagues, and fans to pay their final respects.
With no immediate family to perform the final rites, the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes' Association) has stepped in to take responsibility for the funeral arrangements.
Who is Abhinay Kinger?
Abhinay Kinger began his film career with Thulluvadho Ilamai, which also marked the debut of actor Dhanush. The film, directed by Kasthuri Raja, went on to become a generation favourite and established both actors as promising talents in Tamil cinema.
Over the next two decades, Abhinay featured in over 15 films across the Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada industries. Apart from acting, he also worked extensively as a voice-over artist, lending his voice to actor Vidyut Jammwal in AR Murugadoss’s 2012 hit film Thuppakki. The film starred Thalapathy Vijay. He also gave voice to Milind Soman.
Abhinay was last seen at a film press conference in Chennai just a few weeks before his passing.
