More than two years after the success of 'Indubala Bhaater Hotel', 'Lady Superstar' of Bengali cinema, Subhashree Ganguly, is back with the Hoichoi Original series, 'Anusandhan'.

Hoichoi’s latest Bengali thriller, ‘Anusandhan’, dives deep into a world of deceit and power to find the truth. Directed by Aditi Roy, the series stars Subhashree Ganguly in one of her most intense performances to date: as journalist Anumita Sen, a fearless reporter whose life turns upside down when an investigation into a pregnant inmate at Rooppur Jail exposes a dark conspiracy. What begins as a quest for truth soon spirals into chaos, as key witnesses disappear and Anumita finds herself falsely accused of murder. Trapped within the same prison she was investigating, the series now explores how she fights to prove her innocence and unravel the sinister forces at Rooppur Jail.

‘Anusandhan’ is a gripping and emotionally charged investigative thriller that stands out in the Bengali web series space. Subhashree Ganguly delivers a powerful performance as the journalist-turned-prisoner, capturing both vulnerability and defiance with remarkable depth. The cinematography and editing work beautifully to build tension, immersing viewers in the claustrophobic prison setting, while maintaining a sharp focus on the emotional turmoil of its lead. The moment the protagonist’s investigation turns inward-forcing her to confront her own reality, serves as a brilliant plot twist that keeps the story unpredictable and engaging. Shaheb Chattopadhyay delivers such a convincing performance that you can’t help but despise his character. Sohini Sengupta, Sagnik Sarkar and Aritra Dutta Banik stand out as other strong pillars of the series.

With all that said, ‘Anusandhan’ isn’t flawless. The first two episodes move a little slowly, and certain supporting characters could’ve used stronger backstories to add more emotional weight.

With sharp storytelling, atmospheric visuals, and a haunting background score, the series keeps viewers on edge from start to end. ‘Anusandhan’ showcases how courage and conscience can become a person’s biggest weapon in the face of corruption. If you’re drawn to investigative thrillers and complex character arcs, this U/A 16+ Bengali series is a must-watch for you.
