The 'Kiss Cam' controversy at a Coldplay concert led to the termination of Astronomer's Chief People Officer, Christine Gabot. She filed for divorce from her husband shortly after this incident.
At the time, some were heard remarking, "Can a woman of such character maintain a household?" Now, new information about Gabot's husband is coming to light, and surprisingly, it pertains to the very night of that concert.
The Kiss Cam captured an intimate moment between Astronomer's former CEO Andy Byron and HR Executive Christine Gabot at the Coldplay concert. Realizing millions had witnessed this moment, Byron and Gabot, somewhat embarrassed, covered their faces. This 'scandal' snowballed rapidly. Byron was compelled to resign as Astronomer's CEO, while Gabot also lost her job. Initially, it was reported that Gabot's husband was in Japan on the day of the Coldplay concert in Seattle. However, fresh information is now emerging.
According to People.com, Christine Gabot's husband, Andrew Gabot, was indeed in Seattle that day. He was at the Coldplay concert too, albeit with the woman he's dating. The Independent reports that the Gabot couple had been living separately even before July 16.
NDTV People quoted a source saying, "They (the Gabot couple) had been living separately for quite some time. Christine was in a box with her colleagues at the concert, though it wasn't a company box. Andrew was there too, with the girlfriend he's dating."
NDTV further wrote that embracing in the box at the concert was inappropriate, and Christine has taken responsibility for that. However, the ensuing scandal and job loss were unjust. Andrew filed for divorce on August 13. A friend of theirs revealed that Andrew and Christine had been living separately long before the Coldplay concert.
