A jewellery store in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, was witness to a bold daylight robbery on October 1, 2025. A couple allegedly made away with ornaments worth nearly ₹6 lakhs. Staff reportedly noticed the robbery only hours later.
Couple’s distraction game
CCTV footage accessed by the channel shows the couple posing as customers while examining necklaces. The woman can be seen using a calculated sleight of hand, slipping pieces under her saree’s pallu and even hiding boxes of ornaments on her lap. Meanwhile, her male accomplice diverted the salesman’s attention by repeatedly asking about prices and designs, as per the HT report.
Unaware store staff
The theft unfolded in minutes with striking precision. After spending some time at the counter, the couple reportedly told staff that they were unimpressed with the selection and left the shop empty-handed, or so it seemed. It was only during a routine stock check that employees discovered the missing jewellery.
CCTV footage reveals the trick
In the video clip, the woman first hid one box beneath another, placing one back on the counter while quietly tucking away the other. Later, she covered additional ornaments under her saree, continuing to browse as if nothing had happened. The man’s continuous queries ensured that the staff’s attention stayed fixed elsewhere.
After the discovery, store authorities shared the CCTV footage with local police. The police have launched a search to track down the two accused. The incident has left residents shocked at how easily the theft happened. This has led to questions about security in high-value retail outlets.
