28th August, Thursday: You would very much enjoy it if it would have been a script of a Bollywood masala movie, where a gangster hands out his visiting card containing his 'rates' of his services, as half murder and full murder. Except this time, it is the reality, the story unfolded in South 24 Parganas. Meet Morselim Molla, aka 'Bullet'

Morselim Molla, famously known as “Bullet”, is a contract killer with polished visiting cards for his services, like half murder, full murder.

Bullet gets arrested

A news report by Sangbad Pratidin says, according to police, “the young man from Amtala in Canning tried to live the action life, rather than merely be inspired by the big screen. Bullet produced a polished business card promoting his customer services, much like the thugs in innumerable Hindi action movies who maintain a rate chart for their shady work.” The services listed on the card, which got into the hands of the police through a source, ranged from simply threatening someone to killing them or breaking their limbs. Bullet became suspicious, scared, and went underground when police initially attempted to reach him. Following that, he played cat and mouse chase in several different locations before getting arrested on Tuesday night in Golabari. A single-shot gun was found in his possession. And, ironically, it was this card, not his gun, that brought him down.

Statement from Police

Police officers wryly note that his inspiration was not the pages of detective fiction like ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’s Path-er Kaanta’, but rather the action packed angry young man era swagger of Bollywood villains. “He clearly thought like the characters he saw on screen,” one officer remarked, per Sangbad Pratidin.

But unlike in the movies, Bullet’s “business plan” collapsed the moment his own marketing betrayed him. Investigators are now checking whether his theatrics ever translated into real violence, if any contract killings or assaults can be traced back to him. On Wednesday, Bullet was produced in the Alipore court and remanded to seven days of police custody. Detectives expect his interrogation to throw up more details about his operations and motivations.
