Bangladeshi youth killed by Pakistani Army firing: Whose trap did he fall into while selling perfume?

A young man from Madaripur, Bangladesh, who told his family he was going to Dubai for work, was instead found to have joined the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was killed on September 26 in a Pakistani army operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, where 17 militants died.

Everyone knew he was going to Dubai. Actually, he had traveled to Pakistan. There, he had joined the TTP, the outlawed militant group known as "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan”. Faisal Mondal, a young Bangladeshi man, was eventually killed by Pakistani army gunfire while working for this militant organization. He resides at the Madaripur Sadar Upazila's Choto Dudhkhali village. News of Faisal Mondal's passing arrived at his house on Monday.

Faisal had no connection whatsoever with terrorism, even remotely. His father works as an electrician, and his grandfather is a deliveryman for a chain shop. His mother is a housewife.

Before leaving Bangladesh, Faisal used to sell perfume in front of various mosques in Dhaka's Jagannathpur. Not just neighbors, but even relatives and his parents were unaware that he had gone to Pakistan and joined a militant group.

Faisal left Dhaka in March 2024. He had told everyone he was going to Dubai for work. The last time he contacted his family was before the last Eid al-Adha. Since then, Faisal's family had not received any news of him.

Last Friday night (September 26), 17 TTP members were killed in a Pakistani army operation in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Faisal was among them. His identity card, cash, and other documents were recovered from his clothing.

On Monday, photos of the killed TTP members were published in Pakistani media. Seeing those images, Faisal's family became certain about his death.

Faisal's mother claims that someone or some group in Bangladesh led her son astray. She surmises that Faisal might have mingled with some nefarious circle while selling perfume outside mosques in Dhaka before going to Pakistan. She said, “I demand that those involved in this incident be brought to justice”.

Faisal's uncle, Abdul Halim, said, “We demand the swift return of his body to the country. And we demand justice for those who took him to Pakistan and made him join the militant group”.
