Nepal weather forecastHeavy, continuous rainfall has pushed rivers and streams to high alert levels across Nepal, prompting fears of flash floods, landslides, and erosion. Government agencies warn that rainfall may persist for two more days, according to a report by Nepal News.
PM Karki appealed directly to citizens to stay indoors when possible, avoid crossing floodwaters, and follow instructions from disaster agencies and police, as per an ANI report. She also announced nationwide public holidays on October 5 and 6 to reduce movement and lower risk exposure.
Government claims full readiness for relief
In her address, the Prime Minister said all state agencies, including Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, the Army, and emergency services, are on 24/7 standby to assist affected communities. Key highways and infrastructure are under close watch, and efforts to reopen road links will begin as soon as conditions allow.
Karki emphasised that resource mobilisation is in full swing. She was quoted by ANI as saying, "Wherever you are, stay safe and encourage others to remain safe. Do not travel unless necessary. Avoid crossing floodwaters or landslide-prone areas."
She urged citizens in vulnerable zones to prioritise the safety of life and property, and to heed warnings from local authorities.
In the central region, districts like Parsa and Bara have recorded very heavy rainfall in recent hours, further heightening concern in flood-prone areas.
