After Balochistan, Islamabad may face yet another separatist movement. Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) is gradually becoming restive. Thousands of people have taken to the streets in protest against the arbitrary actions of the Pakistani armed forces. A complete shutdown has been called across POK to press for their demands. What exactly are these demands?

The Neelum Valley Public Action Committee has called for a shutdown on Monday (September 29) to protest against the neglect and apathy of the Pakistani government. However, Islamabad and its military have indicated that they will suppress this movement with an iron fist. On the same day, the Pakistani armed forces also conducted a flag march to establish their dominance in the region.

Shaukat Nawaz Mir, leader of the Neelum Valley Public Action Committee, has demanded that the Pakistani government address the long-standing grievances of the people of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They allege that Islamabad is neglecting the people of POK. Additionally, there are accusations of widespread corruption. Furthermore, the people of POK claim they are deprived of basic rights such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and access to clean drinking water.
