A young female doctor at a renowned government hospital in Delhi has accused a man of raping her. According to an NDTV report, the accused allegedly raped her by posing as a fake army lieutenant. The accused is a resident of Chhatarpur in Delhi, has been arrested by the police.
Investigation has revealed that the accused met the doctor on Instagram. He is a delivery boy. However, he introduced himself as an army lieutenant. After chatting on Instagram for several days, they exchanged phone numbers and also started talking on WhatsApp.
During the preliminary probe, the police found that the accused told the young woman he was posted in Jammu and Kashmir. Police said he also sent her photos of himself in an army uniform. So, the young woman had no suspicions. Earlier this month, the man informed her that he was coming to Delhi and would meet her. Accordingly, he came to the young doctor's house. After that, he allegedly mixed something with food and fed it to the young woman before raping her.
Police said the young woman filed a complaint at the Safdarjung Enclave police station on October 16. Police arrested the accused after conducting searches at various places in Chhatarpur. During interrogation, the accused said he had gotten army uniforms made at a shop.
Several incidents of harassment of doctors have come to light in recent days. A few days ago, a doctor in Satara, Maharashtra, committed suicide. He named a local police officer in his suicide note. He alleged that the person of sub-inspector rank had raped him multiple times.
A few days ago, there was also an uproar over rape allegations involving a student at a medical college in Durgapur in West Bengal's Barddhaman.
