A Bhopal court on Saturday detained Samarth Singh, husband of deceased model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma, for seven days of police custody in connection with the alleged dowry death case registered against him. Twisha, who was found dead at her matrimonial residence in Madhya Pradesh’s Katara Hills area earlier this month, led to serious allegations against her husband and in-laws on charges of domestic violence and harassment.
Detainment of her husband
Singh, identified by investigators as the main accused in the case, was presented before the district court after being brought to Bhopal during the early hours of Saturday. He had surrendered before a court in Jabalpur on Friday after remaining untraceable for several days since an FIR was lodged against him and his mother.
As per News18 reports, Police officials said that Singh was brought to the Katara Hills police station at around 2 am after being detained outside the Jabalpur court premises. He was then escorted to Bhopal by a convoy that included his legal counsel as well as members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Misrod ACP Rajnish Kashyap.

The report also stated that Advocate Ankur Pandey, representing Twisha Sharma’s family, confirmed that the court approved seven days of police remand for the accused. He also informed that proceedings related to Singh’s passport took place during the hearing, after which the accused’s lawyer submitted the document to the court.
More details about the case
“The police got 7 days' custody of the accused (Samarth Singh). There were proceedings regarding the passport. His lawyer submitted the accused’s passport today. There are three other pending applications which we had filed for preservation, the date for which is 29th…" the advocate said, as reported by News18.
Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida, was found hanging at her marital home on May 12. While members of her husband’s family have claimed that she had been battling drug addiction, Sharma’s family has accused them of subjecting her to dowry-related harassment and mental torture, alleging that it pushed her towards death.
The case has since gained significant attention, with the Madhya Pradesh government recommending a CBI inquiry into the matter. Officials, however, stated that the local police investigation would continue until the central agency officially assumes charge of the case.
