A Bangladeshi trans woman had been living illegally in India for nearly three decades using forged documents. Her real name is Babu Ayan Khan. After coming to India, she adopted the name Jyoti. However, she is better known as 'Guru Ma' among the local transgender community. She has been accused of illegally trafficking at least 200 people of the transgender community from Bangladesh to India under the guise of a spiritual guru. Mumbai police recently arrested her.

She entered India through the Murshidabad border in West Bengal many years ago, according to claims of the Mumbai police. After that, she forged all of her Indian documents, including her birth certificate to Aadhaar card and PAN card.

She established herself firmly within Mumbai's transgender community under the guise of a spiritual guru. She quickly gained the trust of hundreds of transgender people across Mumbai. Gradually, she became the 'Guru Ma' within the trans community.

Mumbai police said 'Guru Ma' had around 300 followers in areas like Rafiq Nagar, Govandi and Shivaji Nagar.

However, a police investigation has found that behind this identity, she was the head of a major trafficking ring. According to police, she used to bring Bangladeshi citizens to India illegally. This trafficking ring mainly brought transgender people.

According to the Mumbai police, after entering India, these illegal immigrants used to be brought to Kolkata. This is where the forged documents used to be prepared for them. Then they used to be sent to Mumbai.

'Guru Ma' had illegally occupied more than 200 flats and chawls registered with the 'Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority' or MHADA. She used to rent out these flats and chawls to the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The rooms used to be very small, and the rent for those used to be as high as ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 per month.

In this way, 'Guru Ma' earned lakhs of rupees. That's not all – according to police claims, she also forced many of the Bangladeshi infiltrators into prostitution.

Before arresting 'Guru Ma', Mumbai police thoroughly examined all her identity documents. In which all were found to be forged. Following this, the police have arrested her and begun interrogation. And digging deeper, the bigger picture surfaced. Mumbai police have filed cases against her on charges of illegal immigration, forgery and trafficking.
