A woman and her female partner have been arrested for allegedly murdering the woman’s six-month-old baby in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district, days after the child’s father raised doubts about the infant’s sudden death.
According to a report by NDTV, the baby was initially believed to have died while being breastfed earlier this month. At the time, police registered a case of unnatural death but did not order a post-mortem, and the child was buried on the family’s agricultural land.

Father’s complaint unravels shocking details
A few days later, the father approached authorities claiming to have found messages, photos and videos revealing a romantic relationship between his wife and another woman. He alleged that the baby might have been killed due to tensions or pressure connected to that relationship.
As reported by Mathrubhumi English, following the complaint, police exhumed the infant’s body earlier this week and sent it for post-mortem examination. Forensic findings indicated that the baby had been smothered and strangled.

During interrogation, the woman allegedly told police that she did not want her husband’s child and that he had not taken care of her, officials said. Both women have been arrested and charged with murder.
A senior police officer told NDTV that “the law will take its course if the baby was murdered,” adding that further investigation is underway.
