On Monday, a Class 12 student was shot at by a boy who had reportedly been stalking her for weeks in Haryana’s Faridabad. Caught on CCTV, the clip shows how ordinary streets can suddenly turn dangerous for young women just going about their daily lives.
The footage shows the boy loitering near a motorbike as the girl walks on the opposite side of the road, speaking on her phone. Just moments later, he approaches her and fires a shot. The girl clutches her arm in pain and staggers as he flees the scene.
The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed her condition as stable.
Police said the incident took place around 5:30 pm on Monday. Investigators told Hindustan Times that she sustained bullet and splinter injuries in her left forearm and shoulder.
The firearm has been recovered, and multiple police teams are carrying out raids to arrest him. An attempt to murder case was registered late Monday night at the City Ballabgarh police station based on the girl’s statement.

Inspector Shamsher Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of the City Ballabgarh police station, told HT, “In her statement, the injured girl told the police that she knew the boy for almost a year as he also used to reach the library for study. However, she had stopped talking with him for almost a fortnight, which had irked him.”
“After she didn’t entertain him and his advances in the friendship, the boy opened fire on the girl with the motive to kill her,” the SHO said.

The attacker, police said, dropped his country-made pistol at the scene and fled on a motorcycle. “CCTV footage clearly shows that he had tried to shoot her in the head from a very close range but he missed the target and the girl miraculously survived with bullet and splinter injuries in her left forearm and shoulder,” Singh was quoted as saying.
Just last week, in Faridabad, two separate stabbing cases were reported.
