A woman has been allegedly blackmailed and raped for days on end. According to police sources, the woman was threatened with an obscene video and raped. After a complaint was filed, the accused was arrested on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the Ballia area of Uttar Pradesh.
Police said the arrested person's name is Ashish Kumar, a 23-year-old resident of Ropanpur in Mau district. Area Police Superintendent Omveer Singh said Ashish Kumar was arrested from Ibrahimpatti town. He was produced in court on Wednesday itself. The court has ordered judicial custody for the youth. The Police Superintendent also said that investigation is ongoing in this matter.
According to police sources, the woman was blackmailed and raped for about one and a half years. She was allegedly drugged and threatened before being raped.
It has been learned that about two years ago, Ashish met the 27-year-old woman on social media platform Instagram. The woman has filed a complaint against Ashish with the police. According to her complaint, about one and a half years ago, Ashish had called her to meet. She was then drugged and raped. Ashish recorded an objectionable video of her. For the past one and a half years, Ashish has been blackmailing her by showing that video. A police officer from the Bhimpura area said the woman was blackmailed with threats that the video would be spread on social media.
According to police sources, a case has been filed against the accused under multiple sections of rape as well as under the Information Technology Act.
