A seven-year-old minor girl was seriously injured after being attacked by stray dogs. She is undergoing treatment at a hospital. On Saturday, she was bitten by dogs in Telangana's Hanamkonda area. The attack was captured on local CCTV footage.
On Saturday morning, the minor was walking along the road when several dogs lying on the road chased her. Terrified, she tried to run away but tripped and fell on the road. The dogs surrounded her and attacked.
Hearing the girl's screams, residents and passersby rushed to rescue her. They chased away the dogs, rescued the minor girl, and took her to a local hospital. Residents have blamed the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation of Telangana for the incident. They have alleged that the municipal authorities have shown extreme negligence in controlling the stray dog menace in the area.
Notably, several states in the country are facing questions from the Supreme Court in stray dog-related cases. Most states have not submitted affidavits informing what measures have been taken regarding stray dogs as per the court's directive. On Monday, the court also expressed annoyance over this. It was also said that the chief secretary of each state will have to respond by November 3.
