On 8 October 2025, the Indian Air Force will celebrate its 93rd anniversary at Hindon Air Base near Delhi. It will consist of grand air shows and parades. The celebrations will put to the fore the force's immensely important role in protecting the airspace of our country while at the same time maintaining readiness on the operational front.
History and significance
Only with three aircraft and a total of four officers, the IAF had begun. It was initially under the supervision of the British, but over the years, it has grown into a force to be reckoned with. With its technological prowess, throughout the years, the IAF has protected the citizens, be it through its contribution to wars or missions of peacekeeping or operations of disaster relief. Honouring the discipline and dedication of the IAF personnel, the Air Force will celebrate with a special theme this year.
Theme and slated celebration for this year
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh has stated that Operation Sindoor will take centre stage during this year’s celebration. This highlights the combat achievements held by the IAF. Demonstrations of advanced aircraft and missile systems, including the S-400’s record 300-km strike and a final tribute to the MiG-21, will be put on display. The event will focus on honouring the bravery of its personnel and the prowess of the IAF.
IAF Day 2025 honors the people behind the planes, their courage, and excellence. Air shows and parades will be more than eye candy, but rather show the IAF's skills and how they tackle modern threats. Ultimately inspiring all of us and the next generation of pilots.
