IRCTC website down ahead of Diwali, users face ticket booking problems

Railway passengers are facing a lot of trouble as they are not able to book tickets before Diwali.

Millions of users in the country are unable to use the website and app of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The services of IRCTC's website and app were disrupted on Friday. Both the platforms of IRCTC are down, so they cannot be accessed. Due to this disruption, railway passengers are facing a lot of trouble as they are unable to book tickets before Diwali.

Users have reported the outage of IRCTC's services on the Downdetector platform. More than 6,000 users have reported the issue. They have also expressed their anger over the services of IRCTC on various social media platforms like Facebook and X.

A section of users said that they could not land on the IRCTC website on Friday afternoon. The other section of the netizens says that if you try to buy a ticket, it crashes in the middle. Most of the users agree that tickets cannot be booked through the IRCTC app or website. During this time, online searches have also reflected the experience of users.

According to data provided by Down Detector, 40 percent of users reported problems with the website. 37 percent said the app was a problem. 14 per cent said they had problems booking tickets. The problem is said to have started after 10 am. However, the level of the problem has increased as the day progresses. The problem has been reported from most of the major cities of the country, like New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Nagpur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Bhubaneswar.

There are many festivals, including Diwali next week. Earlier, there was a lot of pressure to book tickets for various reasons, such as returning home and travelling. In such a situation, the problems of railway passengers have increased due to the prolonged downtime of the IRCTC app and website. However, there is no official statement from IRCTC on this yet.
