This year, India's National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on October 31, 2025, is particularly significant as the nation commemorates the 150th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth, known as the Iron Man of India.

Theme of National Unity Day

The theme, "Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat," connects the goal of self-reliance with national integration. The observance reinforces the goal of a developed India by 2047 through cultural events and the "Run for Unity”.

According to PIB, “The Indian Army will organise the Young Leaders Forum on 31 October 2025, symbolically held on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, whose vision of unity and resilience laid the foundations of a strong and secure nation.”

How is National Unity Day celebrated?

The 2025 National Unity Day is celebrated with events centred around the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, the World’s tallest statue and a powerful emblem of national solidarity.

Marathons are held in cities and towns across India to symbolise the spirit of togetherness.
