Outrage erupts after post claims Muslim doctor recorded Hindu women’s delivery videos

A social media post by a Delhi lawyer alleging that a Muslim doctor in Prayagraj filmed Hindu women during childbirth has ignited widespread outrage and debate online.

A social media post has gone viral, alleging that a Muslim doctor in Prayagraj recorded videos of Hindu Women during childbirth. The claim was made by a Delhi-based criminal lawyer, Kalpana Srivastava, who accused the doctor of filming Hindu pregnant women.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Srivastava wrote, “There is a Muslim doctor in Prayagraj who makes videos of Hindu pregnant women during their deliveries.... But why doesn't she make videos of women from the Muslim community?

She also alleged that several users were labelling her a liar and asking her for evidence of the incident. “Many people are saying that the video should be tweeted, and many fools are calling me a liar, so should the video be tweeted now...?” The post has sparked widespread outrage online.

Earlier incident in Uttarakhand raised similar privacy concerns

A similar incident was witnessed in Uttarakhand in October 2024. As per a report by The Times of India, a district-level investigation was initiated against a hospital in Udham Singh Nagar's Bazpur for recording a woman's birth and posting the video on social media without her knowledge. The video, advertising the hospital's skill in natural births, was posted without the patient's awareness.

The district chief medical officer, Dr Manoj Kumar, told The Times of India, "Delivery is a highly confidential and sensitive process. The decision to record and upload the video without consent is completely inappropriate. We have launched an inquiry, and the hospital has been ordered to remove the video immediately. Necessary steps will be taken based on the investigation findings. TOI cited that efforts to get comments from the hospital management were unsuccessful.
