The whole advertising world is mourning right now, as the ‘Father of Indian advertising’, Piyush Pandey, has passed away at the age of 70 on Thursday, October 23.

Piyush's work transformed Indian advertising over the last four decades, leaving behind a legacy that shapes how Indian brands make campaigns for their target audiences across this nation. He was honoured with the LIA Legend Award in 2024 and received the Padma Shri in 2016.

Piyush Pandey's four siblings came to the limelight for their work- Journalist Rama Pandey, her sister, Tripti Pandey, filmmaker Prasoon Pandey and singer-actor Ila Arjun. They are well-known personalities in their respective industries.

About Prasoon Pandey

According to Good Ads Matter, Prasoon Pandey is a Director and Co-founder of Corcoise Films, based in Mumbai. Prasoon, just like his brother, Piyush, had an interest in advertising. He began his advertising career at Lowe Lintas as a Creative Director.

Prasoon Pandey changed his career to film direction when a client insisted on directing the film for a script he had written. That directorial debut won various prizes at the Indian Advertising Filmmaker’s Awards (IAAFA) 1995. The film won in the best debut director, best director, best script, best music, best cinematography, and best film categories. He directed a popular short film, #Family, in 2020, featuring several celebrities.

About Ila Arjun

Popular Singer-actor Ila Arun has been a leading figure in Rajasthani folk music for more than three decades now. She is known for hit folk songs like ‘Mera Assi Kali Ka Lehnga’, ‘Resham Ka Rumal’. She is the voice behind the songs such as ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ and ‘Ringa Ringa’ from the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.

Talking about Piyush Pandey’s wife, he was married to Nita Pandey. Beyond advertising, Piyush Pandey also made occasional appearances on screen.
