Rampaging elephant disrupts Laxminarayan procession in Kota, Rajasthan. On Thursday, a fair and procession were organized in Kota to mark Dussehra. As part of the celebrations, the idol of Lakshminarayan was being transported on an elephant's back from the fort with great pomp and circumstance.
Reports suggest that as soon as the procession reached the Dussehra fairgrounds after departing from the fort, the elephant began its rampage. Despite numerous attempts, the mahout failed to bring the animal under control. The unrestrained elephant charged towards the crowd gathered at the fair.
As the elephant rushed towards the throng, the attendees frantically attempted to flee the fairgrounds in a chaotic manner. The elephant's onslaught demolished the barricades surrounding the fair area. Additionally, an electric pole near the fairgrounds collapsed under the elephant's impact. However, no reports of serious injuries have emerged from this incident.
A colorful procession had been organized in Kota on this day to commemorate Dussehra. The procession featured a theatrical battle between horse-mounted demons and a troop of monkeys. Members of the Sahariya and Bhil tribes were present, arranging cultural performances. Nevertheless, the elephant's rampage derailed all planned activities.
