A hundred years ago, on Vijaya Dashami, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was established. We are fortunate to be celebrating its centenary. Respect to Dr Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS. To commemorate the Sangh's glorious 100-year journey, the Government of India has issued a special postage stamp and commemorative coin.
For so many years, the Sangh has been working in various fields of society including education, agriculture, social welfare, tribal welfare, women's empowerment. It has chosen the path of nation-building over individual development. This noble purpose of nation-building, the clear path of individual development, and the simple, vibrant methods of its branches form the foundation of the Sangh's century-long journey. Standing upon these pillars, the Sangh is nurturing millions of swayamsevaks.
Many workers, including the revered Dr. Hedgewar, participated in the freedom movement. Dr. Hedgewar was imprisoned several times. Various conspiracies were hatched against the Sangh and attempts were made to destroy it. Like a sage, the most revered Guruji too was also framed in false cases.
When the pain of partition rendered millions of families homeless, swayamsevaks served the refugees. In every calamity, the Sangh's volunteers with their limited resources have stood at the forefront.
Enduring personal hardships while alleviating others' suffering is characteristic of every swayamsevak. Even today, during various natural disasters, volunteers are the first to reach. The Sangh has worked in the most remote areas of the country. Today, Seva Bharati, Vidya Bharati, Ekal Vidyalaya, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, etc. have emerged as pillars of empowerment for various tribal communities.
The Sangh has been continuously working against the ailments and malpractices entrenched in society. The most revered Guruji consistently propagated the spirit of 'Na Hindu Patito Bhavet' (No Hindu should be fallen). The respected Balasaheb Deoras used to say, "If untouchability is not a sin, then there is no sin in the world!"
While serving as Sarsanghchalak, respected Rajju Bhaiyaji and respected Sudarshan ji also propagated this vision. The current Sarsanghchalak, respected Mohan Bhagwat ji, has also set a clear goal for society so that for the sake of harmony, every Hindu has the same well, the same temple, and the same crematorium.
After 100 years, today's challenges and struggles are different. Economic dependence on other countries, conspiracies to break our unity and change our demographics — our government is swiftly addressing these challenges. The Sangh has also prepared a specific roadmap to face these challenges. Today, our social harmony faces a significant challenge due to the changing demographics caused by infiltration.
The Sangh is now embarking on its journey into the next century. By 2047, in developed India, every contribution of the Sangh will continue to uplift and inspire the nation. Best wishes to every swayamsevak.
