‘I am not joining any party’; K Kavitha resigns from BRS and MLC post

2 September, 2025: K Kavitha, the daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao resigned from her position as an MLC and her party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The resignation which takes effect on September 3 which came after she was suspended from the party, a move that shocked the party and state politics and rising rumors of growing political and familial conflict, according to recent reports.

Kavitha sent letters of resignation to the Legislative Council Chairman and the BRS President. She complained against the top party officials, especially her cousins T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar labelling charges of corruption and of putting ink her father KCR's reputation in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project and asking investigation in her resignation statement. She also inked that those with a stake in controlling the BRS's future and also her family were behind her suspension.

Kavitha spoke to the media about certain things like she was disappointed that her brother, KT Rama Rao, had maintained silence during what she described as "malicious campaigns" against her.

She put blame on Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar of acting against the sovereignty of the KCR-led family and fundamental party principles, and she warned KTR not to put their trust in them. Kavitha clarified, "I am not joining any party," and reaffirmed her dedication to public causes. The discussions with supporters will determine the future course of action.

The further splinter of the family and underline KCR's standing, she also charged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy with planning with her cousins.
