India has strongly denounced Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), calling it a nation that “bombs its own people” and “conducts systematic genocide”. During the Open Debate on Women, Peace, and Security, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, delivered a scathing response after a Pakistani official made claims about “sexual violence in Kashmir”.
Harish asserted that Pakistan uses “delusional tirades” and “misdirection” to divert attention from its own atrocities. “Every year, we are unfortunately fated to listen to the delusional tirade of Pakistan against my country, especially on Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian territory they covet,” he said, as quoted by The Indian Express.
‘Pakistan bombs its own people’, says Indian envoy
Referring to Islamabad’s dark history, Harish condemned Pakistan for conducting Operation Searchlight in 1971, which led to mass atrocities in then-East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). He accused the country of sanctioning “a systematic campaign of genocidal mass rape of 400,000 women citizens by its own army.”
“A country that bombs its own people, conducts systematic genocide, can only attempt to distract the world with misdirection and hyperbole,” Harish told the UN gathering. He added that “the world sees through Pakistan’s propaganda,” reaffirming that India’s record on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda remains “unblemished and unscathed”.
India also calls out Pakistan at UNHRC for exporting terrorism
India also lashed out at Pakistan during a UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session in New York earlier this week. Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi, speaking under Agenda Item 4, accused Islamabad of abusing the forum with “baseless and provocative statements against India”.
“Instead of coveting our territory, they would do well to vacate the Indian territory under their illegal occupation and focus on rescuing an economy on life support, a polity muzzled by military dominance, and a human rights record stained by persecution,” Tyagi said.
India’s firm stance at the UN underscores its growing global assertiveness against Pakistan’s recurring attempts to internationalise the Kashmir issue.
