Amid mounting rumours of a cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday clarified that his planned dinner with cabinet colleagues was not connected to any political development. Speaking to reporters in Bagalkote, he said, “I often host dinners. It was not possible for some time, so I’m hosting one now. It has nothing to do with any reshuffle.”
Rumors brushed aside
The remarks came as speculation intensified that Siddaramaiah might reorganise his cabinet ahead of the Congress government completing half its term in November — a period being referred to in political circles as the “November Revolution.”
Brushing aside the rumours, Siddaramaiah said, “Is meeting over dinner an offence? We always meet. The opposition and media have made it look like a conspiracy. It’s just a normal dinner with normal food.”
Political undertones remain despite denial
Despite the Chief Minister’s denial, party insiders suggest the dinner could serve as an informal platform to discuss political strategy, preparations for local body elections.
With the Congress government approaching the 2.5-year mark, the party appears keen to project stability while addressing internal power equations.
