Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking from Bhutan's Thimphu today, has strongly condemned the explosion at Delhi’s Red Fort. He warned that those behind the act would not escape justice. Investigating agencies, he said, would trace the conspiracy to its very foundation.

On Tuesday morning, Modi flew to Bhutan to join the celebration of the 70th birth anniversary of the country's fourth king, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, according to his official schedule. From the stage in Thimphu, Modi said, " Today, I come here with a very heavy heart. The horrific incident that took place in Delhi yesterday evening has deeply saddened everyone. I understand the grief of the affected families. The entire nation stands with them today."

The Prime Minister said strict action would follow and added that he had been monitoring the situation since Monday evening. “I was in touch with all the agencies investigating this incident throughout last night. Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice,” Modi said.

On Monday evening, a sudden, powerful explosion hit Delhi's Red Fort area-one of the most secure zones in the city. At least 12 people are confirmed dead and 26 injured, according to Delhi Police. The blast was so powerful that the door of the car was flung almost 100 meters away. Several bodies were badly mutilated.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed in a similar vein during his address at the Delhi Defence Dialogue organised by the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA). He said, “I want to firmly assure the nation that those responsible for this tragedy will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances.”
