Air India will shift 60 of its 180 daily domestic flights from Terminal 3 (T3) to Terminal 2 (T2) at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport starting from October 26, 2025, the airline announced on Friday. The move is aimed at easing congestion and supporting the next phase of T3 expansion, which is currently underway.

The airline has advised passengers to re-check terminal details before travelling to avoid last-minute confusion. All international flights will continue to operate from T3.

In an X post, Air India said, "Starting 26th October 2025, Air India will adjust their domestic operations at Delhi Airport to support T3 expansion activities: - Air India: 60 out of 180 daily domestic flights will shift to Terminal 2 (T2) - All international flights continue to operate from T3 Passengers are advised to keep their contact details updated and check flight/terminal info via our website, app, or 24x7 support.”

The flights which will be operating out of T2 will carry numbers starting with “AI1XXX” — for example, AI1737 and AI1787, as per Air India’s official website.

Network boost for winter schedule

The terminal shift comes alongside Air India’s Northern Winter Schedule, which will also be effective from October 26. Under this, the airline is adding 174 weekly flights across domestic and short-haul international routes to meet rising demand.

Key international routes include:

Delhi–Kuala Lumpur: 7 → 10 flights per week (from Nov 15)

Delhi–Denpasar (Bali): 7 → 10 flights per week (from Dec 1)

Domestically, Rajasthan will see a major capacity push:

Delhi–Jaipur: 3 daily flights

Delhi–Jaisalmer: 2 daily flights

Delhi–Udaipur: 2 → 3 daily flights

Mumbai will also get more flights to Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodhpur ahead of the tourist season.

Cities such as Varanasi, Raipur, Port Blair, Aurangabad, Guwahati, Nagpur, Dehradun, Patna and Amritsar will also benefit from added capacity.

Air India’s fleet upgrade in the final phase

The airline also shared an update on its ongoing retrofit programme. Of 27 legacy Airbus A320neo aircraft, 26 have already been upgraded with new Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Air India now operates over 100 A320-family aircraft with modern interiors across more than 80 domestic and short-haul international routes.
