The 11th edition of the annual joint military exercise between India and Sri Lanka, called ‘Mitra Shakti,’ will be held at the Foreign Training Node in Belagavi, Karnataka, from tomorrow, as the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army announced on Saturday, November 8. The exercise will take place from November 10 to 23.
As per the ADGPI, the goal of Exercise Mitra Shakti 2025 is to strengthen operational coordination between the Indian and Sri Lankan armies in executing joint missions across urban and semi-urban areas.
The ADGPI stated that this joint training initiative highlights the mutual dedication of both nations to promoting regional peace and stability. It also aims to deepen defence collaboration between the two armies and reinforce the strategic partnership between India and Sri Lanka.
The ADGPI shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Exercise #MitraShakti_2025. The #IndianArmy is set to participate in the 11th edition of the annual Indo-Sri Lanka Exercise Mitra Shakti with the #SriLankaArmy at Foreign Training Node, Belagavi, from 10 to 23 November 2025.”

The post also emphasised the event’s geopolitical importance, stating, “Exercise Mitra Shakti 2025 aims to enhance the operational synergy between the two armies in conducting joint operations across urban and semi-urban terrain. The exercise underscores the shared commitment of India and Sri Lanka towards regional peace and security, while further strengthening Defence Cooperation, camaraderie and mutual trust between the two forces.”
About Mitra Shakti
‘Mitra Shakti’ is an annual bilateral military exercise, hosted alternately by India and Sri Lanka. The 10th edition was conducted last year at the Army Training School in Maduru Oya, Sri Lanka. The Indian contingent, comprising 106 personnel, included a battalion from the Rajputana Rifles along with members from other arms and services. The Sri Lankan side was represented by soldiers from the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lankan Army, as reported by ANI.
