Bihar Election 2025 early trends: NDA leads in 136 seats, Tejashwi's Mahagathbandhan trails

Early trends from the Bihar Election 2025 show the NDA taking a strong lead, crossing 136 seats and moving past the majority mark.

The Bihar Assembly Election 2025 took place in two phases. The first phase on November 6 saw a voter turnout of 65.08%, while the second phase recorded 67.14%. Vote counting is set for November 14, after which the Election Commission will declare the final results.

Alongside Bihar, counting will also be conducted for eight assembly seats spread across six states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. One of the key contests to watch is the Jubilee Hills seat in Hyderabad, where most pollsters expect a close fight between the Congress and the BRS.

In Bihar, according to the ECI, the NDA has crossed the 100-seat lead mark and is steadily moving toward the majority figure of 122. The Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan is trailing behind, currently leading in around 50 seats.

BJP’s Maithili Thakur is ahead in Alinagar by 1,826 votes after the first round of 24. In Mahua, RJD rebel and JJD chief Tej Pratap is trailing as of 10:15 am. Meanwhile, LJP (Ram Vilas) holds a lead of 5,823 votes.

Early trends show the NDA leading in 136 seats-well past the majority mark, as counting continues across Bihar. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) appears headed for a strong performance, strengthening his prospects of becoming Chief Minister for the 10th time. As of 10:33 am, JD(U) leads in 77 seats, while its ally BJP is ahead in 73 constituencies, according to the ECI.

At 10.45 a.m., the Mahagathbandhan is now down to a 58-seat lead in Bihar. The NDA, on the other hand, has increased its lead to cross 180, as per NDTV.
