Bihar is all geared up for the most crucial political moment as the state awaits the outcome of the 2025 Assembly Elections. The political atmosphere is charged with high voter enthusiasm and strong exit-poll projections. As results come in, they will provide the direction of the state's politics for the next five years.

Counting has begun from 8 am today

The counting of votes has already begun at 8:00 am today. Early trends are expected by midday, when a first look at the likely winners across key constituencies will emerge. A clearer picture of the final results is expected by the evening, depending on the pace of counting.

Bihar recorded impressive polling numbers this year. Phase 1 saw a turnout of 65.08%, while Phase 2 registered 68.76%, taking the combined voter turnout to 66.91%, according to ECI data. Significantly, women voters once again outpaced men- 71.6% of women cast their votes compared to 62.8% of male voters, as per a report by Times Now.

Two-phase polling

Bihar voted in two phases: the first on November 6 and the second on November 11.

Total seats in assembly

There are 243 seats in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, and any party or alliance needs 122 of these to form the government.

Main political contenders

The central fight is between the NDA comprising BJP, JD(U) and HAM, and the INDIA bloc comprising RJD, Congress, and the Left parties.

Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party is contesting independently.

Current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of JD(U) remains the incumbent chief minister at the head of the NDA government.
