The “Know BJP” initiative saw BJP President JP Nadda meeting former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in New Delhi, and shared how the BJP’s organisational model and people-centric approach drive its success, while also lauding Sunak’s efforts on the India-UK free trade deal, according to a PTI News report.
BJP’s model & India-UK ties in focus
During their meeting, Nadda interacted with Sunak about BJP’s organisational strength, its layered structures, outreach at grassroots levels, and continuous engagement with citizens.
Nadda explained that under PM Narendra Modi, the party has tried to translate this structure into governance, especially by applying technology in fields such as healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
"Nadda shared insights into the BJP's organisational strength and its people-centric approach to governance and political engagement. He highlighted the 'Know BJP' initiative as a platform to enhance international understanding, encourage exchange of ideas, and strengthen ties with political parties and leaders around the world," Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge of BJP's foreign affairs department, was quoted as saying about the interaction.
Nadda also praised Sunak’s leadership in advancing the India-UK free trade agreement (FTA), describing it as a key pillar in strengthening bilateral relations. He said the “Know BJP” platform offers a chance to exchange ideas with global leaders and improve mutual understanding of political systems.
Welcoming Sunak to India, Nadda said that his tenure as UK PM brought renewed warmth and diplomacy to the India-UK partnership. The meeting is part of a broader push by the BJP to leverage soft diplomacy and build connections with international political figures.
