India spent ₹615 crore to send Chandrayaan-3 to the moon's surface. But the government's household income surpassed that figure, and that too from the Narendra Modi government's scrap sales revenue! In one month, the central government earned nearly ₹800 crore by selling old machinery or e-waste and old government files!
This cleanliness drive has been ongoing in various government offices across the country since 2021. This transparency drive was conducted from October 2 to October 31. According to sources, the government has earned a total of ₹4,100 crore from scrap sales over the past few years.

Among these, October's ₹800 crore income is the highest. Not only that, last month's cleanliness drive cleared approximately 232 lakh square feet of space in offices. 29 lakh old files were removed. With the cooperation of 84 ministries, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances organised this drive covering 11 lakh 58 thousand offices. Central Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya, K Rammohan Naidu, and Jitendra Singh were responsible for overseeing the entire drive.
Modi has emphasised on digital India initiative since coming to power in 2014. According to sources, between 2021 and 2025, the Modi government has cleared multiple files. And after digitising all information, the burden of old files has been sold off.

The government has announced that between 2021 to 2025, a total of five cleanliness drives have been conducted, selling scrap from 23 lakh 62 thousand offices. This has made it possible to clear 924.84 lakh square feet. 166 lakh 95 thousand files have been removed. Special emphasis was placed on completing pending government work at a rapid pace.
To monitor work progress and meet targets, cabinet ministers personally contacted officials. They also regularly organised review meetings to track pending files. Government officials claim that this success has been possible due to such diligence.
