The Election Commission of India (ECI) has activated a national voter helpline - 1950 - to address queries and grievances related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal. The initiative, part of a wider transparency drive, allows citizens to clarify doubts, lodge complaints, and directly connect with election officials through multiple digital and local channels.
An ECI official said the helpline is operational daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through a toll-free number - 1800-11-1950. Trained executives will assist citizens on matters ranging from voter registration and corrections to grievance tracking.

“No legitimate voter’s name will be excluded from the rolls. The helpline ensures every citizen’s voice is heard and every issue is promptly addressed,” the official said.
Multiple helplines, local support centres activated for voter assistance
In addition to the national helpline, each state and district has been instructed to establish its own contact centre to offer support in regional languages. All complaints and updates will be monitored via the National Grievance Service Portal (NGSP 2.0) to ensure resolution within 48 hours.
The ECI has also introduced a ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ feature via the ECINET platform, allowing citizens to directly connect with their respective Booth Level Officers for any on-ground assistance.

The initiative coincides with the second phase of SIR across nine states and three Union Territories including West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, all of which go to polls in 2026.
Citizens can also email their concerns to complaints@eci.gov.in for faster redressal.
The ECI reaffirmed its commitment to a “transparent, inclusive, and accountable electoral process”, urging voters to make full use of the helpline services and remain informed throughout the revision period.
