Another gunfight in Kashmir. This gunfight between militants and the army has been ongoing since Tuesday evening. The gunfight is taking place in the Biranthaab area of PS Kandi in the Rajouri region.
Jammu Police IG Bheem Sen Tuti informed on social media that joint forces went to the area after receiving information that militants were hiding there. He also stated that police, army, and CRPF personnel have surrounded the entire area.
Police reported that the gunfight occurred in the Biranthaab area around 7:20 PM. Members of the Special Operations Group went there after receiving information that a group of militants was present in the area. As soon as they arrived, the militants started firing. The personnel also responded with retaliatory fire.
It has not yet been clearly announced who these militants are and how many are present there. However, according to sources, there are at least 4 militant members there. They have been surrounded from all four sides.
According to sources, those who have been surrounded in the area are all members of Pakistan-backed militant organizations. Personnel believe there is a possibility of 4 to 6 militant members being present there. A search operation is ongoing throughout the area in pursuit of these militants.
A militant attack occurred in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir in April. 26 people died in that attack on April 22. Following this, the army launched Operation Sindoor. Multiple militant bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were destroyed.
Simultaneously, combing operations began throughout Jammu and Kashmir in search of hiding militants. Multiple militants were also eliminated in those operations. India also announced that Pakistan would be given an appropriate response if any attempt was made to carry out militant attacks on India.
