A fierce encounter erupted between terrorists and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police late Tuesday in the Beeranthub area under Kandi Police Station in Rajouri. Officials confirmed that the exchange of fire began after security forces launched a search operation following intelligence inputs about terrorist movement in the area.
“Exchange of fire took place between terrorists and SOG team in Beeranthub area, PS Kandi, Rajouri. Joint parties of Police, Army and CRPF have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area,” an X post by IGP Jammu’s official handle reads.
Massive search operation underway
Authorities have intensified search operations in the nearby forest and hilly terrain to prevent the terrorists from escaping. Reinforcements have been deployed, and all entry and exit points have been sealed.
The area remains under tight security, and residents have been advised to stay indoors. So far, there are no reports of casualties on either side, as of the writing of this news article.
This latest encounter comes amid a rise in militant activities in border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, where several recent attacks have targeted security personnel.
