Kanhaiya Kumar faces backlash after Congress trails in the Bihar election

Congress used Kanhaiya Kumar as one of its key campaigners in the Bihar Elections, along with 40 campaigners. Kanhaiya Kumar now faces backlash after Congress failed to impress in Bihar.

After having a disaster in 2020, Congress is heading towards another major setback, as Congress is only able to gain a lead in seven seats by midday. The youth face of Congress, Kanhaiya Kumar, was used as a key campaigner in Bihar, and he was one of the youngest faces of the party, along with the 40-star campaigners for the Bihar assembly election 2025. Congress wanted to use Kanhaiya Kumar’s Bihar connection, and it was canvassed widely. As the party is heading towards a massive disaster in 2020, the youth leader is facing strong backlash.

Kanhaiya’s own electoral record under spotlight

Kanhaiya Kumar, who was a former student leader, contested the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from his hometown, Begusarai in Bihar, but lost against BJP leader Giriraj Singh. Speaking about his non-participation in the election, he said that he had already contested twice in the Lok Sabha elections and lost; therefore, he would like local leaders to contest the assembly polls.

‘Vote chori’ row sparks fresh political heat

The 38-year-old leader, born in Begusarai, raised concerns over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations of "vote chori,” and stated that if votes were not "stolen," the state would see a government change; however, if such practices continued, the current regime would remain in power. Showing confidence, Kumar said to ANI, "This time, we will see a change in Bihar. Vote chori is a huge issue. If votes are not stolen, the government will be changed, and if votes are stolen, the same government will continue. The Election Commission must answer how 22 votes were prepared with the identity of a Brazilian model.”

Kanhaiya Kumar, hailing from Bihar, has not been successful in assisting the Congress party in their campaign in the state. So far, Congress has only managed to win seven seats in Bihar. Kumar, a former leader of the CPI who joined Congress in 2021, is facing scrutiny as his campaigns and speeches have not yielded positive results.
