The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that the Lal Qila Metro Station will remain closed until further notice due to ongoing security concerns, as investigations continue into Monday’s deadly Red Fort car blast, Dainik Jagran reported.

In an update posted on X, the DMRC said, “Lal Quila Metro Station will remain closed till further notice due to security reasons. All other stations are functional as normal.”

The explosion, which occurred outside Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station, caused widespread panic in Old Delhi. At least 13 people were killed, and several others were injured after multiple vehicles caught fire following the blast.

Security agencies have since cordoned off the surrounding area, restricting access to the Red Fort and nearby landmarks as forensic and anti-terror teams continue their investigation.

DNA confirms identity of blast suspect

According to PTI, DNA tests have confirmed that Dr. Umar Nabi, a senior doctor at Al-Farah University in Faridabad, was driving the Hyundai i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort. Investigators matched DNA samples taken from bones, teeth, and clothing recovered at the site with samples provided by his mother and brother, confirming a 100% match.

Police officials told PTI that Umar’s mother was brought from Pulwama for sample collection. “We have taken the mother of the suspect to collect DNA samples to match them with the parts found at the scene of the blast,” an officer said.

Authorities have increased deployment across central Delhi and stepped up checks at metro stations, airports, and government buildings following the explosion. The CISF and Delhi Police continue to maintain heightened alert levels as the investigation progresses.
