Red Fort blast: PM Modi, other political leaders express grief over car explosion, demand 'swift recovery'

The explosion at Red Fort reportedly claimed eight and injured twenty-three.

PM Modi expressed grief over the car explosion near Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi that claimed lives and left several injured on Monday, November 10. PM Modi took to social media to extend condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.

PM Modi tweeted, “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials."

As per ANI reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, reacting to the blast, assured, "All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the results to the public. I will be heading to the spot shortly and will also visit the hospital immediately."

Other political leaders also expressed concerns after the car explosion near Gate number 1 of the Red Fort.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared, "The car blast incident in Delhi is extremely painful and disturbing." He extended condolences to the families of deceased, "At this moment of immense grief, I extend my sincerest condolences to the families of the deceased. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured."

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shares, "Deeply shocked to hear about the tragic blast in New Delhi. "

She offered condolences, "My heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones and I pray for strength and a swift recovery for all those injured."

MP for Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, shared, "Shocked by news of the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi and by reports of fatalities & injuries." He extended his condolences towards the affected people, "My thoughts are with all those affected, especially the families of the victims. Urging everyone in the vicinity to stay alert and follow official advisories. The safety of citizens must remain our foremost priority."

Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi took to X and shared, "The news of the car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station is extremely heartbreaking and concerning. The report of the deaths of several innocent people in this tragic incident is profoundly sorrowful." He also added, "In this hour of grief, I stand with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones and express my deepest condolences to them. I hope for the swift recovery of all the injured."

The explosion reportedly claimed eight and injured twenty-three, per the Indian Express and the Hindustan Times. Following the explosion police sounded a high alert in Delhi. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot with police cordoning off the area, the Delhi Fire Services said.
