A viral video of a buffalo worth 21 crores dying at Rajasthan's famous Pushkar Mela had sparked outrage amongst netizens. Earlier, the video started circulating all over the internet in which a huge buffalo was seen lying calmly, leaning onto a packed sack at the Pushkar Mela, while people were seen gathering around to see its condition. Within a span of hours, the news spread on social media like wildfire.
The video that sparked controversy
Some shared the video with a caption saying, "Animal cruelty in the name of business at Pushkar Mela. Rajasthan. A 21 crore buffalo died, and there was no vet at the fair to help. The world's biggest livestock event, yet no one to save a life. Help came only after the video went viral - truly a shame."

People started commenting under a video, blaming the management for not arranging for adequate personnel to take care of the animals. One user commented.“Animal cruelty in the name of business.” Another user said, “Its not sudden death. They planned to kill him for insurance,” a third user reacted. “Imagine being worth 21 crore and still not escaping destiny.”
What actually happened
Later, it was found that the news was not true at all. According to a News18 Hindi report, the Animal Husbandry Department and cattle herders present at the fair have stated that the buffalo is completely healthy and alive. It is being told that the news of another buffalo falling ill and his condition deteriorating during treatment was wrongly linked to a buffalo worth crores, which created confusion.
