In a major counter-infiltration operation, the Indian Army neutralised two terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday night.

The operation, codenamed ‘Pimple’, was launched in the Keran sector based on specific intelligence inputs indicating movement along the LoC, officials confirmed.

According to the Army’s 15 Corps (White Knight Corps), alert troops detected suspicious activity and challenged the infiltrators, who responded with gunfire. The Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) retaliated, killing two militants in the ensuing encounter.

“Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing operation. Search of the area is in progress,” the Chinar Corps posted on X.

The operation resumed on Saturday morning to ensure that no other infiltrators were hiding in the area. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the site, though the identities of the slain terrorists are yet to be confirmed.

Kulgam crackdown widens

As reported by Moneycontrol, a simultaneous security operation was carried out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, targeting individuals allegedly operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The crackdown was followed by a high-level meeting headed by the Director General of Police (DGP), where multiple Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) were conducted across Kulgam based on credible intelligence sources.

Several overground workers (OGWs) and locals suspected of maintaining contact with Pakistan-based relatives and funding channels were detained under relevant legal provisions. Officials said the searches led to the recovery of digital devices and documents linked to subversive activities.

A senior officer told Moneycontrol the drive aims to “completely dismantle the support structures of terror in South Kashmir.” Meanwhile, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) also intensified jail inspections to detect unauthorised phones and communication tools.

Security agencies said infiltration attempts often increase before winter as heavy snowfall closes mountain passes, making November a critical period for border vigilance.
