Tuesday, 19th August: Monday Chinese Foreign minister Wang Yi held a bilateral talk with EAM S Jaishankar during his visit to India as China and India reach 75 years of their diplomatic ties. Focusing on challenges of changing world situations, free trade and ways to act by both the countries as major power in the region, setting an exemplary relation for two developing nations, as Xinhua News reported.
Both the countries agreed to maintain bilateral ties and retain the momentum between their diplomatic relationship reaching consensus from the talk between Wang Yi and S Jaishankar, reported Xinhua News.
As per Xinhua News, Yi talked about the changing situations in a rapidly evolving world where constant unilateral bullying is a threat to the opportunities of free trade and international order. As two countries worth above 2.8 billion population combined, both countries "demonstrate a sense of global responsibility, act as major powers, set an example for developing countries in pursuit of strength through unity, and contribute to promoting world multi-polarization and democratization of international relations".
Wang Yi also mentioned about the gradual movement between the leaders of two countries enabling exchange of dialogue ensuring peace in the border regions, resuming pilgrimage to the mountains and lakes of Tibet for the Indiana Pilgrims.
"China-India relations are showing a positive trend toward returning to cooperation", Wang said. Learning from the past, two countries should see each other as partners and opportunities, investing in valuable resources for revitalization and development, as per Xinhua.
Earlier on Monday, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said in his opening remarks that the talks would cover "economic and trade issues, pilgrimages, people-to-people contacts, river data sharing, border trade, connectivity and bilateral exchanges," according to Economic Times.
"Wang emphasized that China is willing to uphold the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and work together with neighbouring countries, including India, to jointly build a peaceful, secure, prosperous, beautiful and friendly home", Xinhua reported.
At the time of discussion with the Chinese Foreign Minister on the 75 years of bilateral ties, S Jaishankar pointed out that differences should not turn into disputes, neither conflict nor competition. While he also noted the Chinese leader’s visit to India opens a gateway for both the countries to exchange views on global matters and matters of common interests.
