In the wake of 11 children's deaths allegedly linked to the consumption of 'Coldrif' cough syrup, authorities in Madhya Pradesh have sprung into action. In a pre-dawn operation on Sunday, a pediatrician from Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested in connection with the cough syrup incident. The physician has been identified as Dr. Pravin Soni, who had reportedly treated the majority of the deceased children. Allegations suggest that Dr. Soni had recommended the ill-fated 'Coldrif' syrup to the ailing children.

The repercussions don't end there. The Madhya Pradesh government has also filed a lawsuit against Shrisan Pharmaceuticals, the Tamil Nadu-based manufacturer of the Coldrif cough syrup, located in Kanchipuram district.
