Here’s what happened
Maani Pawar had booked a Rs 27 lakh Thar, and on Monday evening, she went to the Mahindra showroom in Delhi's Nirman Vihar to take delivery of her new vehicle. Ms Pawar performed a pooja and a ritual, which involved a lemon being placed in front of the wheel of Thar, which was parked on the first floor of the showroom, and Ms. Pawar had to drive slowly, with a gentle push, to squeeze the lemon under the tyre of the car. However, unfortunately, she pressed the accelerator instead. As a consequence of that, the car smashed through the glass, flew out of the store, and landed on the pavement. A video of the aftermath of the crash shows the upturned car on the road below the showroom. The airbags deployed, and Ms Pawar and the showroom employee, identified as Vikas, were taken to the nearby Malik Hospital. They were discharged after first aid.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania said, "On Monday at about 6.08 pm, the medico-legal case (MLC) of Maani Pawar, resident of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, was received from Malik Hospital in Nirman Vihar. On enquiry, it was found that Maani and her husband Pradeep purchased a Thar Rox car from a Mahindra Showroom situated at Nirman Vihar."
