Within the next 48 hours, every hostel at Jadavpur University must be closed. Once the puja is over, the hostel can reopen. Authorities at the university have been instructed by the Calcutta High Court. The High Court further ordered that following the Puja holidays, the State government and Jadavpur University officials meet and make a final decision on security-related matters.

Justice Sujoy Pal, a division bench of the Calcutta High Court, said that the Jadavpur police will ensure that no hostel is opened. It's a worship holiday right now. Therefore, the police can assist the authorities in ensuring that no outsider enters the campus during this time. It is possible to reopen all hostels after the Puja holidays.

The High Court has also issued a number of directives on internal security issues of the university. The court also directed the government and university authorities to hold a meeting after the Puja holidays and take a final decision on the installation of CCTV cameras and other issues. A report on the whole matter has to be submitted in the next hearing of the case. Jadavpur University called a meeting at 3 p.m. today.
