Durga Puja may be over, but Bengalis can never resist the urge to travel. With the festive season ending and winter slowly setting in, it’s the perfect time for a short getaway. While Darjeeling and Kurseong remain popular, many travelers now prefer quieter, offbeat destinations. Here are three serene places to visit this late autumn.
1) Ahaldara
Located in Kurseong subdivision of Darjeeling district, Ahaldara is a small scenic village perched atop Selpu Hill. From the Ahaldara viewpoint, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of Kurseong with pine forests on one side, misty mountains on the other, and the Teesta River snaking through the plains below. 2) Tabakoshi
Just a short drive from Mirik, Tabakoshi is a hidden gem nestled along the banks of the Rangbhang River. This quiet hill village surrounded by pine and birch trees has recently gained popularity among tourists. The lush green tea gardens covering the slopes add to its charm. From Tabakoshi, travelers can easily visit Jorpokhri, Lepchajagat, Pashupati Market and Gopaldhara Tea Estate.
3) Bagora
After a half-hour drive from Kurseong, you'll reach a small, lush green village loved by birdwatchers and it is known as Bagora.
