Puja is incomplete without a feast. Even if you diet all year, indulging in mutton on Navami is a constant. But after eating a bit too much, acidity may arise. And on the day of Dashami, staying healthy is nonnegotiable when sindoor-khela and immersion are still on the schedule.

Although during Puja, Bengalis typically pop antacids on an empty stomach to stay fit. However, physicians don't recommend taking medication unless it's needed. Overeating leads to gas and acidity, making everything troublesome. So instead of taking unnecessary medications, try preparing this healthy drink with just two ingredients from your kitchen, which will prevent gas and acidity from forming.

Mix 2 tablespoons of cumin and 1 tablespoon of carom seeds in a glass of water. Cover and let it sit overnight. If overnight isn't possible, even an hour should be sufficient. Now, boil this water thoroughly. While boiling, you may add a piece of ginger. Strain the water and drink it like tea. You can also add lemon juice and honey. Consuming this beverage will eliminate the need for antacids.

Both cumin and carom seeds possess properties that enhance digestive health. These two spices offer solutions to various stomach ailments. You can drink this beverage daily during the festive season. It will keep gas and acidity at bay while also helping control weight.

If you suddenly experience acid reflux, you can still drink the cumin and carom seed water. Adding ginger juice to it proves even more beneficial. Ginger also aids in resolving digestive issues.

Excessive eating during Puja raises concerns about increased cholesterol levels. However, regular consumption of this drink will alleviate that worry. The cumin and carom seed water is also effective in keeping cholesterol in check.
