Significance of Ahoi Ashtami

Rituals followed
The day starts with a bath and is followed by wearing neat traditional clothing. Goddess Ahoi Mata is worshipped and given offerings of akshat ( rice), roli, and milk. Furthermore, a diya ( lamp ) is lighted with desi ghee as its fuel.
A silver necklace or locket featuring Ahoi Mata is worn, with one bead added each year as a mark of devotion.
Fasting throughout the day, mothers who observe this festival break their fast in the hours of dusk with the sight of the stars. Post which they offer bhog prasad to the Goddess, marking the completion of the rituals for the day, as per Hindustan Times.
