1. Plastic Products
Many household items are made of plastic, but the less you use them, the better. Avoid using plastic water bottles, lunch boxes, containers or plates. Even plastic chopping boards should not be used. Microplastics from these items can mix with food and enter the body, increasing the risk of serious diseases like heart ailments and cancer. Instead, choose items made of wood, bamboo, or glass for a safer alternative.
2. Old Non-Stick Pans
Non-stick pans are commonly used for low-oil cooking. But if you’ve been using the same pan for years and the coating has started to peel off, it’s time to stop. Cooking in such pans can lead to hormonal imbalances and other health problems. It’s safer to use ceramic, stainless steel, or cast-iron cookware instead.
3. Scented candles
Although power cuts are rare now, many people use scented candles for fragrance or relaxation. However, these pretty candles can be more harmful than they appear. When burned, they release soot and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), both of which can severely damage the lungs. Opt for plain, unscented candles, they may not fill your home with fragrance, but they’ll at least keep your air cleaner and safer.
