Casio has gone full time-travel mode. To mark the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future, the brand is reviving one of its most iconic pieces, the classic calculator watch, CA-500 which is now reimagined as the CA-500WEBF, a collector’s dream that fuses 1980s nostalgia with sci-fi precision.

With its OUTATIME license plate motif and taillight-inspired accents, the new limited-edition model features the iconic DeLorean design. The caseback has an engraved Flux Capacitor, the fabled gadget that fuelled Marty McFly's time travels, and the multicoloured calculator buttons that glow like the time circuits from Doc Brown's dashboard. When looking for nostalgia, no detail is too small, so the Back to the Future logo is even etched in steel on the buckle.

But it’s the packaging that truly seals the deal: the watch comes in a VHS-style box, complete with faux rental stickers, a perfect throwback to the home-video era when the movie first hit living rooms.

Enter the galaxy of nostalgia

What’s turning heads online isn’t just the watch, it’s Casio’s new ad film for the launch, which has been trending on YouTube. Set in a neon-lit, sci-fi garage that blends Hill Valley’s charm with a dash of Star Wars energy, the ad feels straight out of a retro space opera.

With dramatic lighting, humming circuitry, and a synth-heavy score that echoes both The Force and The Flux Capacitor, it’s pure time-travel theatre that is playful, cinematic, and delightfully self-aware.

On October 21, 2025, which is also known as 'Back to the Future Day,' Casio's Back to the Future CA-500WEBF will formally make its debut. It will retail for £115 (roughly $155) and be available for purchase online in limited quantities.

Whether you wear it on your wrist or keep it mint in its VHS box, one thing is for certain that this isn’t just a watch.

It’s a ticket back to Hill Valley, 1985, with a quick pit stop in a galaxy far, far away.
