In today's busy city life, where concrete is the predominant choice over green, houseplants bring new life into homes. According to Delhi based-interior decorator Seema Agarwal, plants have moved beyond being just mere decorative objects; now, they express personal style and daily well-being. Greenery in small apartments means beauty, comfort and relaxation.

Freshness and health benefits of houseplants

Spider plants, snake plants, and peace lilies are known to be purportedly good candidates for air-quality enhancers within. One of the assertions, in NASA's Clean Air Study, is that some indoor plants do help clean the air by eliminating toxins such as benzene and formaldehyde. Homemaker Radha Sharma confesses that the atmosphere feels lighter, and she along with her family have a feeling of breathing more freely as she placed these plants on the living room and the balcony. The psychological benefits arising from such honesty help alleviate stress and increase mindfulness.

Decor for good vibes

Plants render dreary interiors to warm and welcoming ambiances. According to Feng Shui and Vastu traditions, plants like tulsi, money plant and bamboo are supposed to bring prosperity and harmony into places. Mumbai interior stylist Anjali Mehta says, "In minimalist interiors, a touch of greenery immediately adds warmth, character and vibrancy." Placement of plants studied out well, such as near windows or bare corners, charges the room without spoiling looks.

Their growing popularity has a lot to do with an eco-friendly trend. Increasingly, homeowners want to decorate with living things over plastic artifacts for sustainability and sheer beauty. Green niches, balcony gardens, and vertical planters are heavily promoted on social media, which generally gets urban youth excited.

The times are gone when it was just a niche interest, now it is clearly fast becoming an identity marker for contemporary life. Indoor plants nowadays mean more than just decoration as they represent health, happiness and an eco- friendly way of lifestyle that appeals to a new generation.
